We enjoy optometry and the people in our practice by being responsive to your needs we hope to encourage a long and mutually rewarding friendship. When Should You Have Your Next Eye Examination? Many people equate the need for an eye examination with replacing their eyeglasses. While it's certainly important to see well, undesirable changes in your eyes can occur which do not adversely affect vision in their early stages. Unlike the rest of your body, your eyes rarely hurt when something is wrong. Do not rely on changes in your vision or broken glasses to remind you of your next appointment. Follow the advice of experts; have your eyes examined on a regular basis. Here is a brief list of eye care services available at our office: In addition to the history form you have filled out, further questions are asked to reveal whether your vision problem is the result of an eye problem or of your general health. We also want to know your specific requirements so we can determine the best lens prescription to meet your individual needs. During the examination we verify your answers in several different ways to insure that the lenses prescribed provide the clearest and most comfortable focus at all times. We do this because patients often express concern that they might give incorrect responses to the doctor during the eye examination. You need not have that concern in our office. A number of tests are performed to determine your eyes ability to work together as a team, both for distance and for near vision. Depth perception is directly related to your eye's ability to work together. A thorough visual analysis comprises of numerous other tests. Color vision analysis, amblyopia (lazy eye) determination, and visual field testing for peripheral (side) vision are few of the tests done. Dr. Kurtbay Optometry will carefully inspect both internal and external tissues of the eye for any signs of eye and systemic diseases. With special instruments used a study will be made of the interior eye for cataracts, retinal problems, and other diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. We do an eye pressure test and other specific tests to detect glaucoma in its early stages, when the treatment is most effective. When the examination is completed, Dr. Kurtbay Optometry correlates all the information and makes a professional decision on how to maximize your vision. This may be in the form of a prescription for glasses or contacts lenses, a recommendation for visual training (eye exercises), a referral to another health care professional or a clean bill of health. If eyeglasses are prescribed, they are intended to help you see more clearly and comfortably. All of the lenses prescribed by us are impact- resistant and comply with regulations established by the FDA. Safety lenses are recommended for specific jobs and sports that require additional safety. Dr. Kurtbay Optometry provides comprehensive eye examinations. When necessary, the doctor will consult with other specialists should you need additional care. Be assured we will never hesitate to recommend other specialists to help you with your health or vision problems. Your well being is our main concern. Notice of Privacy Practices |
